A Heart of Sacrifice
13 Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. -Genesis 22:13-14
When God tells us to open our hearts to sacrifice, the object of the ask may not be God's intention. It is the heart of sacrifice that is God's test to see if we are willing to give God all of us. In Genesis, God put Abraham to the test when He asked him to sacrifice his precious son, Isaac, on the mountain. Abraham was willing to give God the very gift that he had prayed to God for; his son. But because of Abraham's heart, God provided a ram in the bush just when he was about to offer his son as sacrifice. God saved Abraham from having to give away something so dear to him after seeing that Abraham had a heart of sacrifice.
God may be asking you to sacrifice something today that might seem major; a reputation, a relationship, finances, etc. God's "ram in the bush" for you is contingent on the sacrifice of your heart. Sacrifice with your heart and watch God provide for you in ways you can't even imagine!
